Ms. Orlando served as one of the founders and past NLPOA Clark County Las Vegas Chapter Board members. She was an inspiration for many young law enforcement officers, who ultimately became commanders, supervisors and chiefs. Her leadership and friendship is missed.
Police Memorial Park is a city of Las Vegas park dedicated to police officers. It includes the Memorial Wall and two dedicated tree groves to memorialize local police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. Two trees dedicated to the Ten-13 retired New York Police Officers Club, in reflection of the September 11, 2001, tragedy, are also featured within this special park.
The Police Memorial Wall was created by a group of city and Metro employees to honor members of the Southern Nevada law enforcement community who have passed away. Families and friends were invited to purchase bricks in memory of their loves ones. Those bricks will comprise the memorial wall.
Police Memorial Wall is a tribute to those who have served unconditionally and have given an incredible gift to Southern Nevada. The 181 people whose names appear on the wall gave Southern Nevada the ultimate gift anyone can give to another – their lives, day in and day out – so that we might live in peace and safety.
Police Memorial Park is located at Cheyenne Avenue and Metro Academy Way.
Dedicated to the MEN and WOMEN of the Las Vegas Chapter of the NATIONAL LATINO PEACE OFFICERS ASSOCIATION Who Served the Greater Las Vegas Community Until Their End of Watch . .

Officer of the YEAR
After only three years as an Officer with the North Las Vegas Police Dept., Officer Raul Elizondo was killed after a man wrestled the officer's gun away from him, then shooting and killing Officer Elizondo. After Officer Elizondo was shot, he was able to radio for emergency assistance. Within seconds, seven officers were on the scene. Six of the assisting officers chased the gunman, while another officer stayed with Officer Elizondo until an ambulance arrived.
The man fled until, finding himself trapped by a patrol car blocking his path on one side and officers closing in on foot on the other, the assailant walked about 20 yards away from the car and shot himself once in the head. He died immediately.
An elementary school in North Las Vegas, Nevada has been named after Officer Raul Elizondo.
