National Latino Peace Officers Association ™

The NLPOA is the largest Latino Law Enforcement Association in the United States. We are an advocacy group and are actively involved in almost every area of the judicial system. The primary goal of the National Latino Peace Officers Association is to increase the representation of Hispanics at the Federal, State, County and Local level of the Criminal Justice System. We also work hard towards enhancing the image and professionalism of law enforcement in general, and Hispanics in particular.

Founders

Founder John Parraz (deceased)Founder,     John Parraz (deceased) Founder,   Vicente Calderon

Today, National Latino Peace Officers Association is the largest Latino Law Enforcement Organization in the United States, with local chapters in many cities throughout the country. Its membership includes Chiefs of Police, Sheriffs, Police Officers, Parole Agents, and Federal Officers, all of whom are employed at the local, state, and federal levels.

After 24 years of service with Clark County Probation, Felipe Ortiz has retired this January.

Felepe was also instumental in getting the Las Vegas NLPOA Chapter up and running.

On August 7, 1974, the Articles of Incorporation of the Latino Peace Officers’ Association of California were filed in the Office of the CA Secretary of State. This step was taken after three years of unofficial meetings with a few interested Peace Officers working in the counties of Alameda, Santa Clara, Sacramento, and the San Joaquin Valley.

This historical event, unprecedented in the history of any State or National Law Enforcement oriented organization, gave official recognition to a Hispanic Law Enforcement group, from all levels, legitimately concerned with increasing the number of Latinos in Law Enforcement agencies in California.

The successful and sincere efforts of its members have come to command the respect of other professional organizations and local communities that previously looked at Hispanic Peace Officers with distrust.

Five courageous Peace Officers signed their name to this historical document at the risk of eliciting negative comments from their fellow officers and their departments. Their unselfish and unrelenting commitment to the goals of recruitment, hiring, training, retention and promotion of qualified Hispanics into the field of law enforcement, has been an inspiration to other officers who have continued to work towards these goals.

On behalf of the Southwest Chapter of the Crohn's & Colitis America (CCFA) we would like to thank you
for your generous gift in the amount of $250.00 to support the 2010 Team Challenge Las Vegas Half-Marathon team.

Hundreds of volunteers and participants joined together in Las Vegas, Nevada on December 05, 2010,
in an effort to raise much needed funds towards our mission to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative
colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.

Gifts such as yours help us to continue to fund the best and brightest researchers in the country, while also supporting patients and their families who live in our communities. Contributions also help fund
CCFA Camp Oasis, a camp program that's mission is to enrich the lives of children with Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis by providing a safe and supportive camp community.
